See below for some of the work I did in my first year at the VCU Brandcenter.
I was tasked with creating a brand audit for Frigo Revolutionwear, a mens performance underwear brand.
To do so I patched together research I could find about the company and primary findings from their website which I then formatted onto a tablet sized paper. Along with informative research I was to draw conclusions about the brands values, positioning, and other user experiences.
Frigo underwear want men to feel "more comfortable than naked", they want their users to be more comfortable wearing their product than they are in the nude. To revolutionize naked.
Continued from Martin's Planogram:
After creating Martin's planogram and it's local competitor we were able to make a few recommendations for Martin's on how to keep their shelves competitive against Kroger.
We found that one of Martin's biggest problems was that it had shelf dividers that were hiding several product facings. Many times these were single facings of product, that if hidden by the divider would never actually be seen by the consumer. One of our long term recommendation for Martin's was to purchase new shelving units without dividers, like Kroger's.
In the meantime we recommended that Martin's stock their shelves differently, making sure that these single facings get placed in a different area on the shelf.
With the competitor planogram (Kroger) my responsibilities were the same.

A group of classmates and myself were tasked with designing a tape dispenser for the use of elementary school kids.
For preliminary research we talked to teachers about their classrooms through this we found out some of the issues teachers were currently having with their tape dispensers.
These findings included two themes: kids are taking too much tape and dispensers with blades have to be supervised. On the left you will see my sketches of one of the two directions we decided to go in, a blade-less tape dispenser with sectioned tape.
My rolls in this specific project were, sketching the different dispenser views, coming up with function form updates, and taking part in the initial research.

In Business of Building a cross-discipline class, our group of art directors, copy writers, experience designer, strategist, and myself was tasked with creating a Rube Goldberg Machine to function as a prototype for a machine that would function as an in store display for Crayola Crayon.
As a creative brand manager I played a big roll in pushing my team as well as helping create the strategy around the display of the machine, placement of the machine, and function of the give-away contest. We also all played a small cameo in our video. This project was designated as a project to be a bit more whimsical, and our group was designated the winner for this project by the professor.

A group of two classmates and myself were tasked with creating a planogram for a local grocery store and it's immediate competitor. A planogram is a physical representation of a shelf in a store, employees will often reference it when stocking shelfs or planning where to place certain items on the shelf.
My specific tasks in this project included cataloging a third of the aisle data, creating the templates for both the planograms, creating the boxes for my cataloged data, and combining all three groups of data onto one template for presentation purposes.
I learned many things from this project, not the least of which is that even product placement plays a major role in consumer decision to purchase one item over the other.
